February 19, 2019Wedding Guide Mag

Wedding gowns in 2019 are red carpet ready. The princess gown is out and glam, especially retro glam, is in. We’ve perused all the biggest bridal trends and selected our five favourites!

All geometric patterns are in, but our favourites harken back to the art deco movement of the early 1900s. Scalloped beading and starburst patterns entice the eye, creating drama you’ll love. This Privee by BERTA gown, style 19-B06 is the perfect example. It features fun, layered triangles with beading and sequins to draw the eye.

Bows are trending in 2019. There are sweet and subtle bows at the shoulders or the waist. Large accent bows like in the featured gown. And bows peppered throughout the gown as adornments. Some gowns also feature them as the “something blue.” This Lazaro gown, style 2860 Diana, from the JLM Couture collection, features a large accent bow. Ultra-glam, the bow helps create a Gibson Girl S-figure.

Pantsuits & Jumpsuits

For those uninterested in a gown, bridal jumpsuits and pantsuits are in now. They also make great reception outfits, for something comfortable. One style we have seen is lacy jumpsuits that closely resemble a negligee. This jumpsuit by Blush by Hayley Paige is, instead, satiny and simply with sweetheart neckline.

The “Naked” Dress

The “naked” or sheer dress is a staple in celebrity fashion. Ever since Marilyn Monroe serenaded then-President John F. Kennedy with Happy Birthday it has been a favourite. Her flesh-coloured, rhinestone encrusted gown has inspired countless others and has entered the world of bridal fashion. This custom Valencienne wedding gown has perfect sheer accents with lace applique to give you the “naked” dress look.

Many brides who have needed to cover their shoulders for part of the ceremony. And the hunt to find a matching shawl or shrug has been tricky. Thanks to bridal capes, which are making a huge splash in 2019, brides can have a cape that is made to match their dress. Capes can be short and sweet or long and flowing. All of them add excitement and movement to any bridal outfit. This BERTA gown with a nude lining and floral applique comes with a matching high-collar cape. It is perfect for twirling on the dancefloor, ensuring the most dramatic wedding photos ever.
