Valentine’s day is just around the corner. Valentine’s is the third most popular day to get engaged on, and for many, it marks the anniversary of saying “yes.” For others who are newly engaged, it is the perfect day to celebrate the new life together that they are planning. No matter what kind of couple you are, here are some fun and romantic ways to celebrate Valentine’s day.

Friendly Competition

A date doesn’t have to be a fancy dinner and drinks. Nowadays there are countless activities that couples can do together, especially for those who are a bit competitive. You can have fun axe throwing, take an art class, go to a board game cafe, or an arcade made just for adults, and the loser has to buy drinks afterward (or the gracious winner!).

Brewery Tour

If you and your fiance love a good IPA or stout, then schedule a brewery tour for your Valentine’s date. You will have a great time sampling different brews together, picking a favourite, and learning about the brewery’s process. If you’re more into wine, then touring a winery can be equally fun. The best part? Many breweries and wineries have an onsite restaurant where you can have a meal together afterwards. Just make sure to have a designated driver.

Netflix & Delivery

For homebodies who prefer a night in to a night out, spending the evening curled up around Netflix and indulging in your favourite delivery is the perfect Valentine’s evening. Just because other people are going out does not mean you have to if you feel best hanging out together in the privacy of your own home. Kick back, pick a movie or show to binge, and grab a cozy blanket to cuddle up under while you chat and decide what to order.

The Great Outdoors

If you’re a more active couple then the perfect way to spend Valentine’s day is figure skating outdoors. There are so many beautiful outdoor rinks that are great for photo ops as well as hot chocolate (or a hot toddy). In Ontario there is the Nathan Philip’s Square ice rink in Toronto, the Rideau Canal Skateway in Ottawa, and the Rotary Centennial Pond rink in Burlington.

The Classic

The Classic is classic for a reason. A reservation at a great restaurant with a dozen roses, followed by drinks and dancing is sure to please. It can be a fun opportunity to dress up, and an even better chance to show off your engagement ring. Whether you like a steak dinner, sushi, or lobster indulgence, it will be beyond memorable.

No matter where you go, the most important thing is that you’re together. Celebrate your love on a day made for doing just that.
